Skype, Lync, Skype for Business, and now we have Microsoft Teams, a new chat solution which is part of Office 365.
A quick overview of the Teams' functionality:
You could create more then one team.
Within your team you could see conversation from different channels, you could share files
, or use Wiki to share the knowledge
, or add additional pages with different functionalities (like plugins)
But be careful to read license terms for those plugins.
And the cool thing is that you could add bots to your Team
For each channel you could assign emails and manage the access level
Also, for each channel it is possible to add connectors
I personally find the following connectors as very useful:
