a feedback from a potential employer to young candidates

In the last several months I have reviewed more than 30 CVs from young candidates for our software developer vacancy. What strikes me the most is that 90% of information, which has been provided in those CVs,  is of no use.  At all. Sometimes the CVs have been completely useless.

Here are some very simple recommendations to young candidates:

Do NOT write about

  • your communication skills,
  • your management skills,
  • your computer knowledge,
while it does not matter. It brings nothing to me as your potential employer. 99% of all candidates write that staff. Especially do not put in your CVs things like "advanced Office user".

Do write about:
  • your additional education and courses,
  • your work-related projects, achievements, challenges, and your contribution in solving them,
  • your learned lessons,
  • your work-related interests and how you execute them.

I hope it will help a little bit.
